I KNEW DUTCH MOST OF MY LIFE - WE PLAYED BASEBALL FROM MINOR LEAGUE TO TEENER LEAGUE, ALSO ON THE STREET. HE WAS A VERY EASY GOING FELLOW, ALWAYS HAD HIS MIND SET ON WHAT HE WAS GOING TO DO. I WAS IN NAM WHEN HE GOT KILLED, WHEN I GOT THE NEWS IT WAS LIKE LOSING A BROTHER. AT THIS TIME THE TOWN HAS NAMED THE LITTLE LEAGUE FIELD IN HIS HONOR AND AT THE ENTRY TO FIELD THERE IS A SMALL MONUMENT WITH HIS PICTURES ON IT. ONE IN HIS BASEBALL UNIFORM AND ONE IN HIS MILITATY. EVERY MEMORIAL DAY OUR VFW POST STOPS AND DOES A VFW MEMORIAL DAY SERVICE AT THE MONUMENT, STILL TO THIS DAY, AS CHAPLAIN OF THE POST IT IS HARD FOR ME TO DO IT. ESPECIALLY WITH HIS DAD AND BROTHER STANDING THERE.

Sgt.Burl Croomes died July 8,2003 at age 72.He served 25 years in the US Army including several tours in Viet Nam. He was my Sargeant in Germany with B co. 126th Ord. Bn. 4th Armored Div. in the early 60's.He was a good soldier and man. He will be missed by the many men who served under and with him. Rest in Peace Sarge.....

Hes a young 25 year old who was called to protect this great nation, and who is fighting for the rights of millions to live in a life of peace and to give his future children a history to be proud of. All the while never forgeting those who have given their own lifes in the line of duty.

MSG Coons served 32 years in the army and was a veteran of World War II, Korea, and served two tours in Viet Nam. He was the father of my dear friend, Glenda Findley. MSG Coons passed away before I met his daughter. I wish that I could have met this man who gave so many years to our country.

James, my husband served in the Vietnam war. My son Rob is now in Baghdad, Irag doing his duties for our country.

He was a loving Father who served in WW II. He was in the 8th Air Force, Second Air Division, 491st Bomb Group, 852nd Bomb Squadron and a member of Crew #R27 stationed at North Pickenham, England. He passed away on September 6, 1983. We all miss him dearly!

I served in the Vietnam War with the illustrious 1st Cavalry Division(Oct 66-Oct 67). Hollywood has made a movie of this unit("We Were Soldiers") I came home from the war feeling empty & hurting for those who would never return. I began soul-searching & in 1973, I had a genuine encounter with God that changed my life. I found Jesus Christ as my Savior! He healed my heart & gave me peace. Jesus died on the Cross for each one of us to give us life. His life! Read Isaiah 55 in the Bible & seek the Lord while He may be found...

You are NEVER forgotten. You gave so much for us. God Bless and keep you always.

When I was in VN and (this is really hard) and stuff was coming at me, I just prayed and fired as quick as I could. I was in the Navy but put on a special ops patrol. God Bless the Marines.

You just had to go back VN a second time. Now I did that but on a ship where people were only firing at me from seven miles away, not fifteen feet. I could not dodge a missle but neither could you dodge a bullet at that range. You came back home as I did. Moved on in life and have done well. I salute you and all the brave men you took care of during the war. Many lived because of your bravery.

To the Men of the Okinawa. It has been along time since I have taken a moment to say anything about the ole boat. Many cruises later I just want to thank all for the job well done. From Apollo 15 to Hong Kong to Viet Nam and back. Too much to be said and not enough words.

My husband and I are still together after 62 years of marriage. He served in WW11 overseas in New Guinea and the Philippine Islands for 20 1/2 months. He has seved his Country well, been a good husband, a good father and a good citizen. David your wife and children, Sharon and Susanne thank you for your good service to this Country!

No man served his country like Mike. The last I saw of him was standing tall. He did not die for his country. He made others die for their country.
